Nagarhole initially got its name from the river that runs through its forest. It is located in the state of Karnataka and is part of the forest belt that is also divided into the other famous reserves of Bandipur, Mudumalai and Wayanad. It covers an area of 643 sq. km. and was given its notification as a national park in 1983. It is famous as one of the best habitats in southern India. It is however also famous as one of the best elephant reserves. The nearest town is the coffee plantation town of Kutta (7 km) from where the forest moves into the state of Kerala and the Wayanad jungles.

Getting there

The nearest main town is Mysore (80 km), which is well connected by rail and road to Bangalore (220 km). Road transport of various kinds is available from any of these two points. The resort arranges for a pick and drop, at an extra cost, if given prior information.
