The city of Mysore is the pride of the southern State of Karnataka. It is fragrant with the aroma of the past, where imposing palaces speak of the wealth and grandeur of the maharajas who promoted the arts so that even in its present day, it is a great cultural capital in this region, with artistic temples, museums and art galleries, and natural surroundings that are a palette of greenery, with dams and reservoirs that give a cool calm to this sub tropical city , where its people have an equally sunny disposition.

In its literal sense too, Mysore is connoted with fragrance. It is known for its sandalwood and incense industry, as these aromatic trees abound in the rich soil and climate in these parts. There are innumerous small family owned factories that produce ‘agarbattis’ or incense sticks that are exported all over the world.

Getting there

Mysore is only 140 kms and a great getaway from Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, and this is linked by regular flights to all parts of India. The journey to Mysore can be made by road from Bangalore in a few hours.

As far as trains go, there is a good railway junction here, and it is on the main Delhi- Calcutta line.
Besides, there are frequent private and state bus services to all other parts of south India.
