An absolute must-do tour from Mysore, is a visit to the Brindavan Gardens. So beautifully laid out are these ornamentals gardens, that they have acquired a name throughout India. Set against the backdrop of the massive Krishnaraja Sagar Dam, these gardens are a paradise of greenery , with flowering plants and bushes, bejeweled with colorfully illuminated water bodies and fountains that provide a fantastic display especially after sundown.
It is, therefore, definitely worth spending a night here, to take in the ethereal effect of the interplay of lights. The gardens are illuminated Monday to Friday between 6.30 and 7.25 PM and on weekends until 8.25PM There are some nicely appointed hotels that provide good accommodation. There is a pleasant walk of 1.5 km, from the main gate , right uptil the top of the dam, from where you approach the gardens and the hotels. Vehicle access is restricted to those who have a hotel booking.
A true fairyland at night, and an excellent example of man made homage to nature and the beauty of waterworks.
