Preparing For LookSmart:

Human editors will review your site.  It is important to follow the following guidelines.

• Your site must be in English.

• The site must be of use to someone in the U.S.A.

• The content must belong to you and must be original.

• Your site must not contain any illegal content.

• Your site must not contain material that is pornographic or adult-only oriented.

• Avoid pop-ups.

• Your site must not experience any down time.

• Do not submit an incomplete site.

• Your site must contain quality content.

• Design should be comfortable.

• Keep navigation simple.

• Fast loading.

• No broken links.

• Quality graphics.

• Don't include sound on your site.

• Keep animated graphics and flash to a minimum.

• Include contact information.

• Include copyright information.

• Include a site map.

• No mirror or duplicate sites.

• No re-directs.

                Titles:

• Up to 35 characters.

• List the official name of your business in your title.

• Don't use slogans or marketing hype in your titles.

• Don't use exclamation points or any other special characters in your title.

                Descriptions:

• Up to 145 characters.

• Write an informative, relevant description for your site.  Do not include marketing hype.

• Use proper grammar.

• Write your description in the third person form.

• Don't write price, date or time sensitive information in your description.

• Avoid excessive punctuation.

  
  

Choosing A Category:

• Choose a category that is relevant to the URL of the specific page that you are submitting.

• An editor may select a category different than you suggest if they deem necessary.

  
  

Submitting to LookSmart:

• You pay a one time non-refundable fee to LookSmart.

• You must pay a minimum of $150 deposit.

• You will be charged $0.15 per click.

• There is a $15 click through minimum per month.  (If your site does not receive $15 in click throughs per month, you will still be charged $15.  If you only receive ten clicks, you will be paying $1.50 for the clicks and will still be charged the remaining $13.50 for the month.)
  With this $15 minimum per month, it will cost at least $180 per year to remain listed in LookSmart for a full twelve months.  Plus your initial $49 review fee.
